Dr. Erik Handberg
Education
In order to become a forensic pathologist, each physician must first complete the pre-requisites to attend medical school, then complete a general medical education to become a physician, then complete (at least) residency in anatomic pathology, and finally complete a fellowship in forensic pathology. Once these steps are completed, the physician then becomes eligible to take a competency exam which will make them a board-certified Forensic Pathologist, recognizing their expertise in the subspecialist medical field of Forensic Pathology.
Private Autopsy Team
The Forensic MD performs each examination with a full team including a physician who is subspecialty trained in Forensic Pathology and board-certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology and Forensic Pathology. With each team member having performed autopsies for multiple years for the State of Texas, you can be assured that your loved one will receive competent, compassionate care by a team that brings the experience of conducting thousands of autopsies.
